I'm passionate about using art to educate people on environmental issues. Projects AddictionIn honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, Addiction is a short film that I made about an American environmental engineer named Matt who becomes angry and disillusioned by his fossil fuel addiction. It is a reminder to people that even though we may one day transition completely to renewables for energy production, we are still currently very much addicted to fossil fuels, not only for energy but for the thousands of products we use in our daily lives. The Plane TreesI believe that one of the best ways to facilitate a dialogue regarding environmental issues is to encourage people to spend more time outdoors.Over the course of 8 months, I took out 8 people who had never spent a night outdoors on 3 day, 2 night backpacking trips to some of California’s most beautiful and epic landscapes. For each individual I created an environmental portrait as a way to commemorate the experience. The end result was 500 hours spent outdoors and a new perspective and appreciation of nature for all who participated.
