Climate Designer educating how crucial a longer design process can benefit consumer culture as well as the environment
As an Industrial Designer I've consistently been exposed to how widely accepted a short design timeline is in order to satisfy manufacturing-to-export quotas. Recognizing how shorter timelines rarely consider environmental impact emphasized my dedication to "Slow Design". Slower design considers a products entire lifetime rather than to strictly reach a profit quota. Merging how beneficial this timeline would be to brand image as well as environmental impact conceives a more considerate mass-consumer culture and in turn, yields longer lasting, less polluting, more efficient products for future generations to enjoy. Slow design is smart design.
