Climate Designer that believes in a bold, conceptual approach that acts as a vehicle to create change through effective communication

After leaving my job at Pentagram I went self-employed in order to work with more environmental causes. Since then I've worked with clients through a range of issues such as tackling food waste, global climate protests and eliminating commodity-driven deforestation in the financial sector. I aim to continue working with environmental organisations as much as possible, whilst using design as a vehicle for effective visual and verbal communication through the climate crisis.

Projects

Deforestation Free Finance works with industry experts to provide practical guidance and ensure that financial institutions eliminate commodity-driven deforestation from their portfolios. Given the fact that this had to communicate and exist within the financial sector it was important that this project didn't use any 'eco/sustainability' clichés in its tone and appearance. The brand mark features an abstract shape that references a financial growth chart combined with a bold tree icon. Bold and robust, this symbol forms the starting point of a graphic language that can be used in a variety of ways to form abstract forest compositions and well as more detailed tileable patterns. The primary colour palette consists of black, white and grey as well as a strong vibrant orange to convey a sense of urgency and immediacy.

Psychology vs climate change: what we think, why we think it, and how it all adds up to a planet-sized emergency. Each episode host Dave Powell interviews experts in how our brains work - from PhDs in psychology to writers, activists and beyond. They talk about how their brains and our brains do (and don't) work, and how all of that might help make sense of the climate crisis - and possibly what to do about it. The design of the artwork for this podcast uses a simple but bold vector illustration to convey the theme of the podcast with care taken to ensure it is affective at both large full screen size as well as small thumbnail size.
