About our guest
Karina’s longtime passion for climate action led her to transition from consumer tech, where she had contributed to Design at Lyft, Foursquare, and Twitter, to her current role leading Design and Research for the Opower team at Oracle Energy and Water. She brings a global systems perspective to her work, having grown up in eight countries (many of which are highly vulnerable to climate impacts). She’s endlessly fascinated by the complexities of the utility landscape, and loves talking to utility customers about how they navigate ever-changing rate plans, appliances, and distributed energy resources.
When she’s not working, she’s probably rock climbing, DJing or sewing.

Climate Design Assignments
At the end of each episode, we ask our guests what their ideal climate design project would be. They have four weeks with a class full of design students. We translated their response into a project brief that you can use for your class.
